[Microsoft AI Feature] Paint Object Select, Sticker Generator and Generative Fill- Introduction

Object Select in Microsoft Paint makes editing your artwork faster and more precise by using AI to intelligently detect and isolate individual elements on your canvas.

Sticker generator in Microsoft Paint lets you create custom digital stickers from simple text prompts. It’s a fast and fun way to add personalized visuals to your artwork, documents, or messages.

Generative Fill in Microsoft Paint allows you to enhance your artwork or any images by adding AI-generated objects seamlessly into selected areas, opening up endless creative possibilities.

Minimum System Requirements

Paint Object Select, Sticker Generator and Generative Fill supports all Copilot+ laptops. ‌

If your laptop is not a Copilot+ model‌, please refer to the following information to check if your device supports the Paint Object Select, Sticker Generator and Generative Fill feature.

Supported processors‌ and ‌an NPU with a minimum of 40 TOPS‌ are required: AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 series, Intel® Core™ Ultra 200V series, Snapdragon® X, Snapdragon® X Plus, Snapdragon® X Elite

If you're unsure about your laptop's NPU performance, visit the ASUS official website, search for your laptop model in the top-right corner, Click [Tech Specs] -> [Processor], and check if the NPU’s TOPS meets Paint Object Select, Sticker Generator and Generative Fill’s requirement (≥40 TOPS). (Take S5507QA as an example)

Please update your Paint app to version 11.2504.451.0 and higher for Windows Insiders.

 

How to use Object Select?       

 (1) Start with an image or artwork in Paint. Select the ①[Object select] tool from the Paint toolbar.

 

(2) Hover over and click on the object you want to edit. Paint will ②[automatically highlight the element] using context-aware selection, without requiring you to manually trace or outline it.

(3) Once selected, you can ③[copy, move, erase, or apply generative fill] to the object with ease.

 

How to use Sticker Generator?       

(1) Start with a blank canvas or open an existing image in Paint. Select the ①[Sticker generator] option from the Copilot menu in the Paint toolbar and select ②[Generate stickers] to make more stickers you want.

(2) In the prompt box, ③[type a short phrase] describing the sticker you want—like “a cat with hat” —and select Generate.

Paint will generate a set of stickers based on your prompt. You can browse through the options and ④[choose the one that fits best]. Once you’ve selected a sticker, you can click to add it onto your canvas, copy it or save it from the side panel.

 

How to use Generative Fill?   

(1) Start with an artwork you are making in Paint or open any image you want to make edits to.

Use the Selection tool in Paint toolbar to make a ①[Rectangle or Free-form selection]. Upon selecting the area, you will see a small menu pop up anchored to your selection.

(2) Click on ②[Generative Fill].

(3) Select Generative fill option in the menu. Use the ③[text box] to describe what you want to add at your selection and select Create, The selected area will ④[generate objects] based on the text. You can also press the ENTER key to start the generation.

If you don’t like what was generated, you can refine by editing your text prompt or by asking to re-generate by selecting the Try again button. You can circle through you generations to choose the one that works the best.

Once you are satisfied with one of the images generated, use the Keep button to apply it to your Paint canvas.

 

Q&A

(1) My laptop meets the minimum requirements and has updated Windows to the latest version, so why can't I find Paint Object Select, Sticker Generator and Generative Fill?

Paint Object Select, Sticker Generator and Generative Fill requires the use of NPU. Please follow the steps below to check whether the NPU driver meets the minimum requirements.      
Right-click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the Windows desktop, then click [Device Manager]. Find and expand [Neural processors] in Device Manager. Quickly click [NPU Compute Accelerator Device] twice with the left mouse button. Click [Details] in the new window to query the current NPU driver version.

  • AMD NPU minimum driver version: 32.0.203.240
  • Intel NPU minimum driver version: 32.0.100.3717

If your laptop's NPU driver does not reach the minimum version, you can update it manually. 

Please go to the ASUS official website, find your laptop in the search box in the upper right corner, and then find and install the driver in [Support] -> [Diver & Tools] -> [Chipset].

  • For AMD platform Laptops, please select [AMD Graphics Driver] to download and install.
  • For Intel platform Laptops, please select [Intel NPU Driver] to download and install.
